There is a new CIO white paper out that I think some of you in this community will be interested in. It's called: CIO Guide to Using the SAP HANA® Platform for Big Data
Here's the opening paragraph of the Executive Summary:
This guide supports CIOs in setting up a system infrastructure for their business that can get the best out of Big Data. We describe what the SAP HANA® platform can do and how it integrates with Hadoop and related technologies. We examine typical data flows where different technologies interplay, looking at data lifecycle management and data streaming. Concrete use cases point out the requirements associated with Big Data as well as the opportunities it offers, and how companies are already taking advantage of them.
Of note to this community is that it lays out a reference architecture for big data using the HANA platform, based on the Lambda Architecture that has been getting a lot of attention. It shows how SAP HANA, with Smart Data Streaming, can form the speed and serving layers, using Hadoop for the batch layer and SAP HANA Vora provding the analytics (ie part of the "serving layer") for Hadoop.
