Better Manage the “I” in the ROI equation

If your project is over budget, not meeting milestones or struggling with poor quality there may not be enough focus on the success factors for a successful implementation.  There is no doubt that project managers have a lot to manage and track of. Don't let the issue of the day distract you and allow you to take your eye off of leveraging good practices.

Use the Success Factors as a mental checklist of the various areas of the project that you need to be checking up on on any given day. As an example, when you get to the office ask yourself; is the governance process effective?, do we have any skill gaps on the team?, How is data governance coming along?, etc.

 

Whether using agile or waterfall methodology the good practices across these success factors are necessary to increase the chance of success. The degreed to which the good practices are applied are can vary by type of methodology and/or size of the project.
