PREDICTION 4: IOT DEVICES WILL STILL LAG BEHIND TRADITIONAL ACTIVATIONS
Like cloud, the Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly becoming an indispensable business tool. In 2016 we’ll most likely see an increase in IoT for practical purposes such as enhancing supply chains and monitoring device performance with the goal of cuttings costs and reducing energy consumption. Transportation, manufacturing, and healthcare will most likely lead the trend. In the coming year, organizations will spend considerably more on IoT, telematics, and machine-to-machine projects.
Enterprises have been fairly slow to implement large scale IoT initiatives as they continue to look for a viable IoT solution. We don’t believe 2016 to be the year where a truly dominant IoT ecosystem arises from the various burgeoning technologies. In light of this, IoT activations for enterprises will not yet begin to outpace traditional activations in 2016.
