Dear SCN Friends,
SAP HCI has basic standard version management capability available in Web UI version (As of now not available in Eclipse version).I'm going to focus now on it's usage and review .When we know our areas to improve ,will work more focused and bring faster results.I want to share few comments to enhance this feature .
Use Case:
You want to maintain object history,be it custom Iflow or value mapping or enhancement to standard Iflow. This feature helps to suffice your requirement. We can switch from current version to any of the previous versions.
Limitations:
Major:
1)It only shows modified date .It won't show time stamp
2)Comparison between versions
3)Version Management is available only @iflow level. We can't see the version of individual objects (Ex:Mapping/wsdl/script...)
4)It's user specific version management ,not global (tenant level).Other person in the project cannot able to see the object history and can't switch between versions. It's a major limitation
Minor:
1)For All versions it only shows "Created Date" and "Created By" ,instead of "Created Date,Modified Date" and "Created By,Modified By"
2)If I copied the Iflow from some other project ,renamed it ,did some changes and deployed it.It won't show "Copied from "XYZ" iflow, version "X" .
Usage:
After completion of object build or changes click on Save as Version and click on Deploy. It pops up a page to maintain Version information ,make sure to maintain meaningful information (What changes you made in this version) .You can go back to previous version as below.
Example:
My Iflow is in 1.0.2 version ,I want to revert that to 1.0.1 version
Open the Iflow in WebUI-->Click on version
I want to switch from 1.0.2 to 1.0.1.Select 1.0.1 version
Click on "Click To Revert"-->Now you can see the 1.0.1 version.
SAP need to come up with Deployment history like Dell boomi has.Below are the options available in boomi for version management
Local Object Version Management
Thanks
